Last but not least, Hercules, the Luckiest Cat in the World

Hercules was rescued. Literally. He managed to get himself stuck in a retaining wall. Josh works for the management company that owns our building, and to make a long story short, he helped the local fire department pull Herc out of the wall.

By the time Josh got back to the offices, Herc had fallen asleep in his hands, so I got a phone call asking if I wanted another cat.

When I got home from work, Herc was already in a cat carrier with blankets and cat toys. I took one look at him and told Josh that I'd always wanted an orange cat.

Hercules had found a home.

Loki - the cat that thinks she's a dog

Loki is a crazy cat. She plays fetch and comes running when Josh whistles for her. I think that she believes that she's a dog.

She was technically a wedding present to me from Josh, but he secretly wanted a cat of his own, since Abby favors me. She is one of the offspring of Josh's brother's wives' parents' cats (if you follow that.) His brother (and his wife) has one of Loki's sisters.

Just for the record, Loki is named after the Norse God of mischief. Or in this case, Godess.

Introducing Abby (El Gato Grande)

My husband and I rescued Abby from the Summit County Humane Society. I felt sorry for the older cats, since almost everyone goes there looking to adopt a kitten, so I purposely picked out an adult cat. She was about a year old at the time. I don't know much about her past, other than the fact that she hates to be picked up and the Humane Society treated her for worms.

Out of all of the other cats, she's the Calm One. Abby is happy to just have a quiet spot to lay down and snooze in. (Her favorite spot is on top of the chair in the living room.)

She doesn't play much, unless the toy involves feathers or a laser light.

She is the friendliest of the bunch, walking up to complete strangers for attention. If you don't pet her soon enough, she'll start licking your arm.

That's Abby. My calm fuzzy.

A Quick Introduction

I have always loved animals. When I was kid, we had so many pets that at one time we had an pet-to-people ratio of 4 to 1 (some of those were fish.) My sister and I have had cats, dogs, a hamster, two guinea pigs of death (she trained them to kill me, I think) parakeets, goldfish, and guppies. Alas, no rabbits.

Now I have three cats living in a small one-bedroom apartment occupied by my husband, and myself, of course. All three of them have distinct personalities (they will be described in detail in the next postings) and as you can imagine, the lack of space means that they clash quite a bit.

This will be a log of the cute quirky things they do, as well as the unpleasant. I hope you will enjoy the ride!
